Wonderful. Now here is my problem: serving size. The serving size for that turkey chili is one cup. A cup of chili is dinner?

I've just started counting calories for the first time in my life, and the serving size is a frustration for me. I looked at one soup, and the serving size was 1/4 cup. That's a serving size for a toddler, maybe. That's just a few slurps of soup and you're done.

Good for you on watching your calories! A food log site I use has the mantra "you can't control what you can't measure" as a core tenant, and knowing what you're taking in is a big part of that.

The soup you're looking at might be referring to the concentrate size, not the prepared size. (Thinking of your typical Campbell's can). But often, companies will arbitrarily assign a serving size to make the nutrition information look more attractive.

There's some techniques you can use to extend your meals though. For example, that one serving of turkey chili can be paired with a serving of whole grain bread and a full veggie side salad with a reasonable dressing, for a much more realistic well-rounded meal. "Serving" doesn't have to equal "meal".

I think this article mischaracterized the
